After a rest for the Dragon Boat Festival, we will be resuming our regular meeting on the 23rd of June, 2010.
During the Dragon Boat Festival, it makes me think about why our history and culture defines us. So, I decided that the theme “Embracing our heritage” would be a very good theme to have for our incoming meeting.
Also, we will be having a guest speaker for this meeting. Ken from Rainbow Bridge. He will be doing his CC9 speech. This is a good opportunity to see how more advanced speech being done (which is not so often) and members from other clubs do their speech. Make sure you are going to be here.
Then See you on Wed!!

Toastmasters of the meeting Cathy Yue:
In the coming meeting, I would like talk about “First Impression” with all of you. As you know first impression is so important to us and it is useful for us to build relationship with others. A good first impression is so helpful and important not only in our work but also in our personal life. But sometimes first impression is not so exactly correct. Why I say so? Do you want to know the reasons?
Come to the next meeting!
And also the coming meeting will be a special and exciting one.
Because we are having our half yearly officers election in the second half of our meeting.
All the nominees will come to the stage one by one and compete with each other. I am so curious and cannot wait for the coming committee team!
Looking forward your coming and join our exciting campaign!
Meeting Theme: Challenge Yourself Toastmaster: Simon Liu
Highlights:
Toastmaster Simon demonstrated a stronger leadership than he ever did, we could see that from the beginning: “If you cannot hear me clearly, please raise your hand” and he began the TT session with “Are you ready for table topic?, (‘yes’ from the audience), I can’t hear you? Are you ready? (‘Yeees’)”, such skills showed his increased confidence in leading the meeting forward and such opening prepared well for the next moments.
Simon brought meaningful messages in his promotion as well, the arithmetic metaphor of factors which helps embracing challenges was especially impressive, 3A are best helps challenge oneself, they are: Attitude, Action and Adhere. Among them Attitude is the most important one, if put “a” as integer number “1″ and “z” to be “26″, then Money is only 72, hardwork is merely 98, while only Attitude achieves 100!
TTM Sebrina challenged our impromptu thinking abilities from the speakers
1. ”Most important achievements in the school time” Young responded immediately by quoting his recent absents and returned due to he missed the stage and GC people which was fabulous, such genuine words echoed directly into the heart of every audience.
2. Porsher responded to a question “what you will do if elected the president of GC”, she quickly linked the message to her opinions on how to help members doing efficient speeches and how to learn better in GC Read more »
Toastmaster of the meeting – Simon
Do you once ask yourself why you would come to Toastmaster club?
Of course, You hope to be one better of you, and you want to get improved in English, communication , public speaking, leadership etc., which means that you should challenge yourself with great efforts.
Life is limited but potential is unlimited. At many situations, you should challenge yourself by overcoming your fears, your nervousness, your uncomfortable feelings. You will and you are the only that person to find your potential judged by yourself after your try, after your challenging yourself.
By the way, why I pick up this theme (“challenge yourself”), there are 2 reasons:
Firstly, I would like to make it coherent with last meeting theme, “jump outside your comfort zone”.
Secondly, it is to encourage our members to engage involved in the coming new term’s officers’ election.
So, why don’t you come and join us this Wed!
