Theme: Jump outside your comfort zone
Toastmaster: Sebrina Li
Word of the day: Well

Highlights:
Sebrina inspired by Dan, the writer in the popular Amercian TV series Gossip Girls, whom inspired by living in a different environment. She recommended us to do the same in our daily life. By doing so, we will refresh and able to cherish more from what we had by even just taking one step outside of our comfort zone like joining TM meeting, taking roles and doing speeches.

Table Topics Master: Lucy
Lucy ignited the cheerful theme further creatively to challenge our speakers in daily examples. Meeting room lights up of non-stop laughters. Read more »

Coming Meeting May26

Message from our Toastmaster of the meeting-Sebrina

I’m very glad to be toastmaster this week!

Are you comfortable with your life?

In self growth, when we say we’re comfortable, it means we are not growing. We are not stretching yourself, and satisfied where we are, and not making any real effort to move forward out of that situation.

In order to really change, we need to grow outside our comfort zone. So I set “Jump outside your comfort zone” as the theme. We can share the ways how to jump outside your comfort zone or you can tell your own stories.

See you in the meeting~

Meeting Minutes May19

Theme: Find advantages of others
Toastmasters by Jason
Word of the day: Absolutely

Highlights:
Our ABSOLUTELY handsome toastmaster, Jason shared his friend whom seems better than him, living unsatisfactory.  Finally from Carnegie’s given the key answer on how to be a successful and happy person, that is, to find advantages of others. More than what we have and who we are, the key point is how we feel around us. We should keep trying to find advantages of others for weeks, months, and then something will happen to change in our lives.

Officers’ introduction:
1. ABSOLUTELY sunshine Sidney presented to us that “why VPM is really important, what does VPM do and what can you benefit from being a VPM”. VPM is important because new member is very important to the club. Sidney showed us his two special badges he got due to his contribution to the club’s membership developing. And that badge is so attractive because it is only possible available for VPM.
By the way, it was last night for Sidney in GC and he has to leave Beijing next week because of his job relocation to Shanghai. After meeting, many of us took some photos with him together.

2. Lily searched the exact meaning of SAA from WiKi knowledge library, “A SAA (Sergeant At Arms) is an officer appointed by a deliberative body, usually a legislature, to keep order during its meetings”. Lily proudly shared us her experience as a SAA by her fabulous PPT. She inspired us to take the opportunity to “be a SAA, to be a social, active, attentional person, to be a better communicator and leader with ‘delegating’ team help”.

Our main purpose for joining toastmasters meeting is to improve our communication skills that definitely able to enhance our relationship with others. But sometimes we come to the situation whether to tell or not to tell. Sometimes we like all people know about us, and sometimes definitely won’t. Like: Do you know when is our club chartered? How much do you think our club treasury have?

Steve’s Table Topics Workshop: Wonderful!

Steve took us an interesting way to understand how to tackle table topics. Key point is Don’t just think is like Q&A. Take it more. By re-examine what are the hardest questions, and realized they are not if we able to try to think out of box. Steve showed us ways of how and restudy what we can do to over that by points of re-analyse our answers of organization. We learnt alot and let’s catch the goal in next table topics session!

Officers’ introduction:

Cathy shared her experiences and her understanding of the value of VPE. We can see her passion and enthusiastic in this role and her care to club members. Don’t underestimate the power of your contribution can help others.
Jason’s dream of helping those needed started his first step as VPPR. He revealed his progress on preparing our charity outing and the results. That encouraged and inspired us to understand the platform of TM’s leadership track. Why not come and experience more.

Interesting meeting minutes May5

Highlights:
Our “self-discipline” Toastmaster CK changed his style to give us a very “emotional” meeting all around TOUCHING. He inspired by  ”The Power of Touching” by a Japanese writer, about the importance of touching in daily life. Our dear members and guests shared lots of touching memories with their FABULOUS speeches. As CK’s conclusion, please always remember the saying: Try to find more touching things in your life. Try to create more touching things in your life.
