The meeting started with President Liu Bing praising TM Jeff’s agenda which is our club’s first colorful agenda and welcoming honored guests, notably Jim who once visited our club almost 3 years ago and helpfully took the speech evaluator role.
Next, TM Jeff introduced the meeting theme of “influencing” by giving its definition and tips how to influence. He urged us, combining his fresh experience, to make people understand first when we want to influence them, and further, we should try to involve them as much as possible to make sure the impact we exert on them. Lastly, and most importantly, it’s too late for us to begin to approach people when we want to influence them and it’s also not powerful to deal with the people only limiting to the office or family. The key of influencing lies in consistent efforts and multiple ways to keep in touch.

The meeting started with President Liu Bing introducing TM Lily, one of the earliest batch members of GC. Lily presented the meeting theme of “the Art of Thinking” by telling the members a real example of how she tackled her own financial crisis applying the structured thinking method. When facing with a dilemma, should we just follow the experts’ advices or should we think by ourselves in a proper way to figure out a suitable solution? Lily demonstrated that we should educate ourselves, analyze all the related pros and cons in a logical structured way before we find a good action plan. If we deliver our speech in the same way, it’ll be more convincing too.

Since September Economic Crisis was becoming a tightening rope on the necks of many countries, as a meeting theme, we were focused on the impact over China. Upon statistics of members and guests attending the meeting Nov.12, only two among 20 have the borne the impact of economic crisis, and all of them are directly from US. With that TM Liu Bing proposed an attitude toward the crisis: since it mainly comes from a psychological worry in China, we can treat it with ease, never let the worry to become panic.

The meeting on Oct.29 was around “TRUST”.
With the contribution from all participants, we concluded that Trust can help:
- building happy life
- setting up a healthy economy
- communicating easier
- building effective teams
Trust can be achieved through ways as:
- make ourselves to be trustworthy first
- give people more space to be trusted
